SAP Calculations

The Process

Firstly we need to agree a price and terms for the work. In order to do this we need sight of your building plans to judge the amount of work involved. On receipt of your detailed plans (see below) we will prepare a quotation and fax or email it to you for agreement. At the same time we will notify you if there is any additional information that we need in order to carry out the assessment.

Once you confirm your acceptance of the quotation we will carry out the assessment as quickly as possible and send the results to you. We will then invoice you for the agreed amount, and we ask for full payment within 14 days of the invoice date.

What does the client need to provide?

The SAP assessment process requires a considerable amount of detail on the structure of the property and the methods of space heating, water heating, etc. A list of the information needed is shown here. All of this information really is needed, and if any of it is not supplied from the outset then time will obviously be wasted in chasing it up later. Please use the list to ensure that all of the information is provided.

What does the client receive?

You will receive the following documents:

  • A formal SAP certificate, showing the SAP Rating, SAP Band and Dwelling CO2 Emission Rate.

  • A Building Regulations Compliance Report, showing whether the building complies with Building Regulations (in terms of energy efficiency).

  • Copies of the DER and TER calculation worksheets

  • A Construction Details report, showing all of the input parameters used in the calculations.

  • The assessor's conclusions and observations.

How much does it cost?

As described above, a firm quotation can only be given after examination of detailed plans. However for guidance, assessment of a conventionally-built 3 bedroom house typically costs in the region of £95.
