SAP Calculations

Under Part L of the Building Regulations 2000 all new dwellings and many works of alteration or extension are required to be assessed for energy conservation. The process for carrying out the assessment is known as SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure), requiring the use of software that has been tested and verified by BRE for this purpose.

Definitive guidance on which works are affected is contained in Approved Documents L1A, L1B, L2A and L2B, available from the Professional User portal at www.planningportal.gov.uk

Castleton Energy Assessments have extensive experience in carrying out SAP calculations on all types of dwellings, from small bungalows through blocks of flats to large country manor conversions, and we are always happy to accept new instructions.

From 6 April 2008 all new dwellings will also be required to have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) on completion of construction. Detailed information on the rollout of EPCs can be found at the Department for Communities and Local Government

We are already accredited for the preparation of EPCs on existing properties, and we will be ready to prepare them for new dwellings from the 6th of April 2008.
